Summary:
As the online school for the district, Boulder Universal hosts a diverse enrollment of students including professional performers, athletes, and musicians, as well as students choosing an online environment to support their learning needs. Our teaching staff is highly skilled in facilitating instruction for students in the online environment. Each student is supported by a mentor and our school counselor who collaborate to facilitate every student’s progress in all coursework and to further their academic, social, and emotional growth. This cohesive team is the catalyst for the high completion and graduation rate of Boulder Universal students. Boulder Universal is not an alternative school but does support the needs of students with a variety of learning needs. Students graduate with a BVSD diploma. We are seeking an Academic Tutor to support the staff and students in our Lab, tutoring typical subjects including math through PreCalc.
Responsibilities:
- Assist student(s) with homework assignments and tests.
- Assist in the process of providing learning tools, study tips and techniques to maximize in-class and testing performance.
- Create a focused learning environment that supports student's learning needs.
- Provide an open line of communication for students to voice curricular struggles.
- Regularly communicate with teachers, mentors, and counselors regarding student achievement and progress.
- Access video and audio files on the Internet, record tutoring sessions to support students, assist with general troubleshooting of computers, wireless, and other devices.
- Monitor attendance and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass English component of interview process.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
- Minimum two years college, Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Experience in education/tutoring/mentoring of children/young adults (ages 5-12).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff and administrators.
- Experience in working with children in a Core Knowledge setting.
- Positive communication, interaction, and work experience with diverse people.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
