Summary:
The Math Instructional Coach TOSA provides academic math and instructional support for Career and Technical Education teachers through collaborative lesson design and team teaching in a variety of CTE programs. They also support excellence in teaching and learning at the Career and Technical Education Center through individual teacher development, staff development, and leadership of professional learning communities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach and support secondary math content standards in CTE programs with rigor and integrity. Support the academic crosswalk process for new CTE programs. Develop comprehensive math curricula that integrate academic content standards into Colorado Community College System CTE Competency Standards and CTE programs. Work with CTE instructors to support Concurrent Enrollment and CTE compliance requirements.
- Coach and provide feedback to teachers to ensure all students have access to standards aligned, culturally and linguistically responsive instruction. Plan and co-teach integrated math and CTE lessons with CTE instructors. Build a collaborative coaching culture by developing relationships with CTE instructors based on student-centered coaching and curriculum development.
- Collaborate with CTE instructors and student support staff to make program and instructional decisions based on learning goals and student progress and assessments.
- Understand and model a wide range of effective instructional and management strategies in non-traditional learning settings relevant to career and technical programs. Understand and model strategies for challenging and accelerating learning, as well as supporting interventions for students of diverse learning needs.
- Support building leaders in creating professional learning opportunities to develop the capacity of teachers to facilitate and lead math conversations. Participate in professional development to better support CTE and content area teaching and learning.
- Participate in CTE program events, Career and Technical Student Organizations, and industry partnerships that support career readiness and support a strong school community that values career and college readiness through Career and Technical Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned as determined by the school administration.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: Mathematics (7-12) (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
- Currently hold or be in the process of acquiring a Secondary CTE Integrated Mathematics authorization from CDE.
- Minimum of three years successful experience teaching math at the high school or post-secondary level.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of and deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on an IEP and/or learning English.
- Master's degree in an area of mathematics or instruction/curriculum.
- Instructional leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of secondary math content standards and experience in aligning math content standards with instruction.
- Familiar with the integration of math content standards into other content areas, preferably Career and Technical Education and the crosswalk process.
- Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices.
- Must be adaptable and have the capacity to deal with ambiguity.
- Understanding of effective classroom management strategies to promote a culturally responsive and safe learning environment.
- Use of technology as it relates to instruction, information literacy, and student data management.
- Willingness to learn industry-based technologies for career-focused learning.

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
