Position Title: TOSA-Math and Science-GT

Position Start Date: August 7, 2024

Position Type: Teachers-Licensed

FTE: 0.50 - 20 hours per week - Regular, ongoing

Work Schedule: 186 Days

Summary:

The Math and Science GT TOSA identifies, documents and provides program support for students in need of gifted services according to district guidelines. They will work alongside all departments to ensure high-quality professional learning, guide materials implementation, support data-driven instruction, and provide additional specified supports in math & science for gifted students. They will provide guidance to all schools across BVSD and represent BVSD as needed at the local and state levels in the area of Mathematics and Science.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in activities to develop, revise or refine math and science materials including but not limited to standards alignment, scope and sequence, instructional material review, universal instructional practices, and the review of intervention resources and tools.
  • Assist schools in the application of related district initiatives for advanced and gifted students in K-12 Math and Science including but not limited to support for data-driven instruction, PD development, facilitation of adult learning in person and virtually, lesson planning aligned to backwards design principles, and the facilitation of standards based, interactive, language rich mathematic and science instruction through coaching and consultation.
  • Communicates and supports BVSD Strategic Plan and district initiatives though inclusive, efficacious language with educators in professional development, training, website, email, phone, and all other forms of communication.
  • Assists in engaging with both internal and external BVSD partners to align BVSD Mathematics and Science work to reflect rigorous and engaging practices that support advanced and gifted students. 
  • Collaborates efficiently with other district leads and school-site educators in support of BVSD Strategic Plan and district initiatives while acting ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, and decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process in Elementary Education K-6 and/or Math and/or Science (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
  • Minimum of three years experience teaching Math and/or Science and/or a minimum of three years of educational leadership experience, e.g., school based, central office, educational BOCES, etc.
  • Complete and submitted BVSD online application.

Preferred:

  • Colorado teaching license with Gifted and Talented endorsement or advanced degree in Gifted Education and/or committed to taking GT courses at the district level.
  • Minimum three years experience in gifted education or working directly with gifted student at the elementary and/or secondary level.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
