Position Title:  TOSA-Dean of Students

Position Start Date:  February 10, 2025

Position Type: Teachers-Licensed

FTE: 1.0 - 40 Hours per week - Temporary through 05/23/2025

Work Schedule: 186 Days 

Compensation: BA, Lane A (candidates that hold a Masters degree earn an additional 5% stipend, and 10% for a PhD)

Summary:

A BVSD Dean of Students is responsible for attendance, discipline, safety, and related student personnel services and performs the duties within the authority and responsibility delegated by the School Administration.

Responsibilities:

  •  Provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts; Monitors and organizes attendance functions (letters, phone calls, meetings, truancy events). Serves as an instructional leader in the planning, coordination, and administration of school activities and programs. 

  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of classified personnel. 
  • Administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with district policies and state laws; Works with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement when addressing student conduct; serves on discipline or expulsion panels as assigned. 
  • Supervises students, student activities and athletics. 
  • Assists with the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of new faculty and staff. 
  • Participates in administrative meetings and training to improve administrative skills. 
  • Maintains current knowledge of the district’s adopted curriculum. 
  • Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings. 
  • Provides supervision for afternoon and evening activities. 
  • Works with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students. 
  • Develops plans for emergency situations in collaboration with other administrators and staff, plans and debriefs emergency drills; updates the school safety plan. 
  • Positively impacts student achievement through innovative instructional strategies. 
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area. 
  • Effectively manages the learning environment. 
  • Values student diversity and support the unique learning needs of each individual student. 
  • Exhibits a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning. 
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues, families and community. 
  • Builds positive relationships and communicate effectively with families. 
  • Uses inclusive and differentiated instructional practices to support all students. 
  • Uses data-driven evidence to inform instruction. 
  • Demonstrates a level of technology proficiency that enhances student learning. Contributes to a positive, child centered school culture. 
  • Follows State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado Teaching or Special Skill Provider license or have licensure application in process (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
  • Must have 3+ years of experience as a teacher or special skill provider in K-12 setting
  • Currently hold a Colorado Principal License or be enrolled in administrative licensure program and working toward licensure (must upload license, program or in process documentation to application)
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Desire to work an excel in a school leadership position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; willingness to communicate frequently with families regarding school curriculum and student progress

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
