Opened in the Fall of 2017, Boulder Valley School District’s first school in Erie, Colorado, serves students K through 8th grade with a preschool program. The school is a dynamic learning environment organized into five learning communities: PK-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th. Flexible grouping arrangements and project/problem based learning are core instructional strategies in creating challenging, meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for all students. Summary:
A BVSD educator demonstrates deep knowledge of curriculum and content areas while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies, effective learning environment management, and data-driven coaching support. This role involves both direct teaching and supporting colleagues in the use of data to enhance instruction and student outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with District-approved curriculum and instructional models; utilize innovative, differentiated strategies to meet diverse student needs and motivate learners.
- Employ the Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning by assessing proficiency through formal and informal tools, differentiating assessments, providing timely feedback, and planning instruction informed by assessment data.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment where all students see themselves represented and understand behavioral expectations; implement routines and restorative practices that maximize learning.
- Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by valuing diversity, implementing culturally responsive practices, and identifying barriers contributing to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented student groups.
- Build positive relationships with students’ families and significant adults; encourage meaningful parental involvement and maintain clear, proactive communication about student progress.
- Actively participate in professional learning and evaluation processes, demonstrating a growth mindset through reflection, goal setting, and adoption of new instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with special education, CLDE, and GT teachers to provide meaningful inclusion and extension opportunities.
- Act ethically and professionally, prioritizing student academic success and well-being.
- Supervise students in various settings and enforce District safety and security standards.
- Comply with state laws, negotiated agreements, and District/building policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Instructional Coaching and Leadership
- Facilitate data discussions and support implementation of data driven instruction as a key component of school improvement efforts.
- Collaborate closely with principals, instructional leadership teams, and district supervisors to provide school-level coaching and professional development focused on high leverage instructional strategies and assessment tools that drive student growth.
- Support educators in closing achievement gaps and improving outcomes through effective use of data and research-based interventions, including managing READ Plans.
- Encourage, coach, and monitor data driven instruction practices in partnership with school leadership.
- Assist schools in analyzing summative and formative data to identify strengths, opportunities, and improvement plans aligned with the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).
- Work with teachers to research, develop, and implement standards-based classroom assessments aligned with district strategic goals.
- Build internal capacity within schools by empowering personnel and leadership teams to effectively use data to inform instruction.
- Plan and participate in professional development activities aimed at enhancing data literacy and instructional effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in a Elementary or Secondary Education (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
- Minimum of three years experience working with student data analysis
- Communicate (read, write and speak) in English
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application
- Proficient in the use of Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, etc.) and other applications appropriate to the job.
- The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a "READ Act Designation" by meeting specific requirements. Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
