Summary:

The Food Services Technician provides administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the district’s food service program. This position maintains accurate data in the food service software, entering and updating menu, recipe, and inventory information, and supporting compliance with nutritional and allergen standards. The role collaborates with the Food Services team, Health Services staff, and families to help meet student dietary needs and ensure accurate records. This position plays an important part in supporting safe and efficient meal service for students across the district.

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain data in the district’s food service software, ensuring data accuracy, system functionality, optimization, and alignment with operational needs.
  • Collaborate with the Food Services Management Team, IT, and software vendors to troubleshoot, update, and implement functionality enhancements.
  • Enter, update, and maintain information from various sources–including legacy systems, spreadsheets, and reports–to ensure accurate and current information across all software platforms. Design trainings for staff on use of software system.
  • Maintain accurate records for inventory, nutrition, allergens, and menu data in the food service system. Support the management team with updates to recipes, menus, and production record templates to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate allergen and nutrition data to ensure student safety and compliance with nutrition standards. Assist Health Services staff and families in supporting students with food allergies and special dietary needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Minimum of three years experience in general office occupations or equivalent education and computer experience.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.

Preferred:

  • Two years of college or equivalent advanced training to qualify for an Associate's Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements: Culinary, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service, IT Systems, or related field.

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements: Culinary, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service, IT Systems, or related field. 
  • Nutrition or Nutrition Science background Registered Dietician School nutrition experience. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. 
  • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. 
  • Ability to interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. 

Salary Information: 

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
