Summary:
6th Grade Beginning Spanish, Temporary Long Term Leave – Full time, begins August 2025.
The Spanish teacher is a subject-area specialist responsible for educating each student in their charge and working with students, parents, teachers, and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission. Responsible for teaching beginning Spanish. The teacher is supervised and evaluated by the principal.
The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position:
- BA/BS in a related field, with an advanced degree in education or Spanish preferred; teaching certificate a plus
- Three years of experience teaching Spanish preferred
- Expertise in the field of Spanish and common core standards-based instructional design
- Expertise in curriculum development, assessment practices and 21st century learning skills
- Ability to reach middle-level Spanish learners through engaging Spanish language learning practices, understanding of Spanish speaking cultures, and skill at teaching in the target language
- Strong collaboration, team-based communication, coordination and organizational skills
- Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit’s standards and benchmarks
- Expertise in technology applications and instructional technology practices
- Experience in distance learning practices
Compensation: Daily rate range of $165 to $224 - based on experience
