Responsibilities:
The math teacher is a subject-area specialist responsible for education each student in his or her charge and working with students, parents, teachers, and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission. Responsible for teaching math at grade levels 6th-8th. The teacher is supervised and evaluated by the principal.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in a related filed, with an advanced degree in education or math preferred; teaching certificate a plus
- Three years of experience teaching middles school math preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in the filed of math, math intervention practices, and math common core standards-based instructional design
- Expertise in curriculum development, assessment practices and 21st century learning skills
- Ability to reach middle-level math learners through knowledge and presentation of relevant and applied math practices, understanding of adolescent development, and growth mindset learning
- Strong collaboration, team-based communication, coordination and organizational skills
- Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit's standards and benchmarks
- Expertise in technology applications and instructional technology practices
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
