Stipend:* $5,890 (This is based on working 125 hours including the 2 PD days)

Summary:

A BVSD ELD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of language development and ways to scaffold and support instruction so that all students are able to engage in grade level curriculum and content areas. They positively impact student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment.

The summer program will run FULL DAYS for 7 hours Monday through Thursday, from June 2nd through June 26th, 2025. (There are no classes on Thursday, June 19th). PTO is not available during the summer.

Responsibilities:

  • They support their grade level/content area colleagues in facilitating learning experiences and teach the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum: Utilizes innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; Co-plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model, WIDA language development standards and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines.
  • Collaborate in Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning: Assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; Differentiate assessments based on individual needs; Provides timely feedback and targeted interventions; Co-plan and consistently delivers instruction that draws on results of student assessments; Anticipate student misconceptions and plans lessons accordingly.
  • Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations: Supports the implementation of procedures and routines that maximize student learning; Respond to student misconduct in a respectful manner using restorative practices; Actively seeks a variety of perspectives; Demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; Communicates and involves parent/guardians in all aspects of their child’s education. 
  • Creates and supports a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally and linguistically responsive practices.
  • Understands and identifies barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
  • Develops positive relationships with parents/families; encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning; actively participate in the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and development of new strategies and techniques.
  • Participates in co-planning, co-teaching and reflective dialogue with colleagues, focused on student learning, to enhance student experiences and access to grade level curriculum.
  • Collaborates with classroom, special education and other teachers to provide meaningful inclusion and/or extention opportunities for students.
  • Acts ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, and collaboration; places children at the center of education and accepts responsibility for each student’s academic success and well being.
  • Assists with supervising students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.; and enforce safety and security standards set by the District.
  • Follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with the appropriate endorsement in CLDE (must upload license or in process documentation to application). 
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Preferred: 

  • Bilingual and Biliterate skills in Spanish/English.
  • Knowledge of and deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on an IEP and/or learning English.

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education.
