Summary:

Under the supervision of the Grounds Crew Leader, the Summer Groundskeeper is responsible for the safety, maintenance, care, and modification of district grounds, landscapes and athletic fields. These duties will require the operation of electric and gas-powered grounds keeping equipment and machines, the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, trimming, pruning, debris removal and athletic field maintenance. Must perform all work in a safe, efficient, and orderly manner; Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance; and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialized grounds keeping in the care and maintenance of District and site grounds.
  • Mow, edge, water, weed, fertilize, cultivate lawns, flowerbeds, athletic fields, and other landscaped areas.
  • Operate a variety of power and hand tools and light motorized equipment including tractors, power mowers, edgers, and weed eaters.
  • Conducting basic irrigation audits and performing basic irrigation repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age. 
  • Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity for extended periods, occasionally under unfavorable conditions.
  • Ability to frequently lift of up to 50 pounds; occasional dual-lifts of up to 100 pounds; frequent movement of heavy loads.
  • Safety operate and maintain manual tools and small power tools and equipment.
  • Safely operate a variety of tools and equipment including, but not limited to: lawn mowers, trimmers, paint sprayers, pressure washers, and other various power and hand tools.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of basic landscaping, or building maintenance techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures and precautions. 
Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
