Salary Range 3: $70,667.00 - $106,000

Summary:

The instructional materials specialist (IMS) works across all three area networks with various content and instructional horizontal teams regarding adoption, digital licenses and software approval. The IMS also provides school support for teacher and student access to instructional tangible and digital materials. The IMS oversees the Instructional Materials Adoption process, Adoption Budget and the Board Adopted Materials Library. 

Responsibilities:

  • Management of instructional materials adoption: revise, maintain, oversee adoption process and budget model; oversee annual consumable warehouse purchases; school consumable budgets/expenditures; support and approve school purchase of adopted materials; manage and update Master Adopted Materials List.
  • Manage adoption budget: Revision of new budget model to match new adoption process to mesh with strategic plan;  Create & manage adoption sub-budgets; ensure we stay within budget;  Auditing current expenditures to update the budget to update for this year.
  • Instructional Software Approval: responsible for maintaining and facilitating access approval of instructional digital resources (software, extensions, apps, website unblocks, on-demand/click through):  Create and maintain sustainable new instruction software approval process with IT and Exec Team Coordinator;  Digital License Management - renewals, expirations, contracts, funding, access, resolve vendor platform tech issues;  Collaborate with IT on digital support, integrations, annual license uploads, new purchases;  Maintain On-demand Contract/Click through software process.
  • Customer Service: Provide positive and responsive customer service to district employees, departments, schools, and the community;  Establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with employees, departments, schools, the public, publishers, and other agencies and organizations.
  • Maintain Board of Education Adopted Materials Library: Create and maintain physical BOE library;  Update and maintain single adopted materials list;  Maintain inventory;  Create and maintain check-out system.
  • Procurement/Purchasing/Contracting: Work with procurement for new adoptions, annual consumables and other digital purchases; includes planning, purchase requisitions, contracts, and DPAs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience and/or knowledge of instructional materials, traditional and digital
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English

Preferred:

  • Excellent Computer Skills: use, knowledge of Google Apps, Microsoft Office Products and other business software
  • Google Workspace Certification
  • Knowledge and experience in developing website content following current web design principles and writing protocols
  • Ability to learn quickly, prepare detailed notes and reports, and walk users and coworkers through steps to resolve software issues.

Salary Information:

Salary Range 3: $70,667.00 - $106,000

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
