Hiring Pay Range:* $26.52 - $33.13

Performs routine security checks of schools in the district; responds to emergencies and takes necessary steps to address all emergencies; at times will be required to respond to matters pertaining to vandalism, theft, arson, personnel problems, etc.; work with appropriate law enforcement agencies when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Monitor, operate and manage all Security related software programs related to:- Fire alarm systems
- Security alarm systems
- Electronic lock systems
- Video Camera systems
- HVAC equipment monitoring systems
- Monitor all security systems as necessary including intrusion alarms and CCTV. Analyze data received in order to effectively dispatch security personnel to locations of troublePerform minor maintenance or repair of radio and alarm system or other communications center equipment and systems as directed and trained
- Program Fobs (HID); create new employee profiles
- Create and print new employee/visitor/substitute/contractor badges
- Activate/assign fobs per administrative request; control/block access per administrative request
- Program door schedules (lock/unlock) for school year/holidays
- Lock/Unlock doors manually (overriding schedule); reset malfunctioning doors
- Monitor employee electronic door activity, including previous transactions (history)Conduct time tests with the district Fire Technicians to ensure that alarms are coming in to us in a timely manner for the appropriate zones/descriptors
- Prepare and print reports as needed (Building Status, Arm/Disarm History, User Code Information, Alarm Activity, Signal Activity, Agent Activity)
- Provide Communications During Crisis Events:
- Provide communication by Phone, Two-Way radio, email, verbal
- Become familiar with District emergency responses and notification protocols
- Perform emergency command center communications duties in the event of major incidents, accidents and other emergencies as needed that occur in the district, or the cityTransfer calls and/or relay information received from any source to appropriate persons or agencies, including the police, fire, ambulance, or other departments of the School District
- Receive emergency and non-emergency information regarding request for assistance from schools or other locations and transmit to appropriate personnel Maintain a constant awareness of the location, welfare and activities of security personnel; monitor GPS activity.Prioritize and organize all calls for service according to the nature and type of assistance requested or required. (BVSD Security Agent, BVSD Maintenance, Police, Fire)Dispatch appropriate personnel (BVSD Security Agent, BVSD Maintenance, Police, Fire) to locations throughout the District as necessary to provide for the safety and security of BVSD students, staff and physical assets
- Provide a high level of positive public relations and interaction with members of the district, city emergency personnel, community and othersAccurately prepare, maintain and distribute all required logs, reports, and other records and documentation as directed
- Create written documentation on reported incidents as requested. (Building Status, Arm/Disarm History, User Code Information, Alarm Activity, Signal Activity, Agent Activity)
- Work with Transportation in the event of an accident involving a District vehicle (bus, maintenance truck/van, security vehicle, etc.). Security monitor will be in contact directly with the involved party and obtain information necessary to be relayed to the appropriate dispatch center or District Crisis Team
- Serve as Dispatch Center for Transportation personnel outside of normal business hours
- Function as point-of-contact for trip leaders/coordinators needing to communicate with their driver outside of their pre-arranged times
- Contact terminal Supervisors outside of regular business hours when after-hours trips get cancelled or a driver does not show up for scheduled trip
- Respond to drivers and dispatch regarding civilian accidents, detours, out of order/malfunctioning traffic lights, road obstructions/hazards/conditions/closures; Security Monitor will then notify the appropriate agency
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year security experience.
- Requires a valid Colorado driver's license
- Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must be insurable and maintain insurability per Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) standards (MVR Insurability Standards); required at entry
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Ability to think and act quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergencies.
- Ability to perform physical labor to include constant reaching, bending, and climbing
Preferred:
- CPI Certification
- Basic understanding of Colorado Law and Childrens code
- FAA Remote Pilot License (If requested. Paid for by BVSD)
- Knowledge of Restorative Justice Practices
