Pay Range:* $26.52 - $33.13

The Security Agent is responsible for maintaining safe, secure, and welcoming school environments across all district properties. This role conducts routine patrols, manages building access, and responds to security incidents, emergencies, and crises involving students, staff, and visitors. The position supports emergency preparedness efforts, operates life-safety systems, and coordinates with school administrators, district departments, and law enforcement as needed. Responsibilities also include accurate documentation and reporting, dispatcher coverage, maintenance of security equipment and vehicles, and training and support for Campus Safety Monitors and School Safety Advocates. The role requires flexibility to work varied schedules, afterhours events, and on-call response during emergencies, severe weather, and district closures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine patrols of district properties by vehicle and on foot to ensure buildings and grounds are secure. Lock and unlock facilities as authorized; enforce curfews and access controls; verify identification when required; and monitor for safety hazards, vandalism, theft, fire, HVAC issues, and other security concerns. Interact professionally with staff, students, and community members, including in potentially confrontational situations.
- Respond to security incidents and crises across all school locations, providing de-escalation support for conflicts involving students, staff, and visitors. Respond calmly to traumatic incidents, assist with child crisis response, reunification efforts, and traffic control, and support student safety through engagement, mentoring, and rapport-building.
- Respond to crimes against the district and conduct investigations related to safety and security incidents. Apply knowledge of searches, seizures, evidence handling, and confiscation in accordance with applicable laws, district policies, and best practices. Identify drugs, alcohol, and signs of impairment; ensure safe handling, documentation, and disposition of substances and associated paraphernalia; and render aid as needed.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and training for emergency drills across all district properties, including lockdown, secure, shelter-in-place, evacuation, fire, and hold procedures. Operate and interpret fire alarm panels and maps; diagnose fire alarm issues; advise on appropriate response actions; and maintain emergency preparedness signage, QR codes, and door markings to support first responder access and district mapping alignment.
- Perform full Security Dispatcher duties when requested, including incident triage, communication, and coordination of response resources. Assist and advise HR, Maintenance, school administrations, and other departments on security-related matters, including vandalism, theft, visitor management, and district security policies and practices. Identify and diagnose facility issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely resolution.
- Prepare, maintain, and disseminate accurate reports and documentation related to incidents, investigations, and security operations using Google Suite and district systems. Communicate security-related information through presentations and briefings to staff and students, promoting awareness of safety procedures and expectations.
- Maintain operational readiness of security equipment and vehicles, including coordinating fleet maintenance, ensuring vehicles are clean, stocked, and deployable, and inventorying and maintaining equipment in the district reunification van. Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on radios and related equipment, and, when assigned, operate district-issued technology such as drones in compliance with FAA regulations and district procedures.
- Provide training, situational guidance, and coverage support to Campus Safety Monitors and School Safety Advocates as requested. Support afterhours events such as sporting events and graduations, including coordination with law enforcement, traffic control, and crowd management. Maintain availability to work varied schedules, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, severe weather, and school closures, with on-call readiness as required.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year security experience.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.
- Submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must be insurable and maintain insurability per Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) standards (MVR Insurability Standards); required at entry
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Ability to think and act quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergencies.
- Ability to perform physical labor to include constant reaching, bending, and climbing
Preferred:
- Experience working with various alarm and fire systems, camera systems and security devices.
- Ability to learn and perform essential duties of a Security Dispatcher.
- Ability to work overtime and be flexible when shift changes are needed.
- Ability to think and act quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergencies.
- Drug recognition and safe handling practices.
- Ability to respond to hostile situations and intervene in physical altercations.
