Summary:
The High School Support Assistant provides comprehensive clerical, communication, and operational support to ensure safe and efficient daily school operations. Essential duties include supporting building leaders, serving as a primary point of contact for the building; composing, compiling, and distributing school communications; processing attendance and athletics-related requests and transactions; supporting required reporting; maintaining student records and databases; supporting student open enrollment and registration; assisting administrators and counselors; and providing backup support to the School Office Manager and healthroom operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical and administrative support to counselors, assistant principals, deans, and athletic directors by preparing attendance, truancy, discipline, Honor Roll, credit loss, senior failure, and incomplete credit correspondence and reports; assisting with college fairs and school events; scheduling meetings, extracurricular activities, and field trips; completing transportation requests and coordinating bus logistics with staff and the Transportation Department; maintaining related records; and supporting routine office operations as assigned.
- Maintain student records in student information systems. Ensuring student data, reporting, and attendance compliance. Reviewing and entering attendance records for accuracy and timeliness; ensuring parent/guardian information is properly documented, and they are notified of absences; assisting with follow-up on attendance concerns; sending notification letters; escalating parent and staff concerns to school administrators; and verifying and compiling data for required reporting periods.
- Provide clerical support to counseling staff and students by assisting with course selection forms, entering course requests in student information systems, requesting and tracking transcripts and letters of recommendation, at the direction of school leaders, supporting master schedule updates, maintaining the Course Description Guide content, answering general questions regarding the college application process, and assisting students with software tools.
- Support daily front-office operations by serving as a primary point of contact for the building; providing reception services; supporting visitor management and building security procedures; responding to inquiries and directing individuals to appropriate staff; monitoring the substitute management system to support staffing needs; assisting with substitute coordination; and managing staff calendars.
- Support school community communications by composing, distributing, and maintaining communication tools and resources.
- Provide backup support to the School Office Manager, Registrar, and the student healthroom, as directed, during staff absences and high-volume times. Supporting essential operational, clerical, and student care needs, including emergency functions, assisting with documentation and communication, and following established health, safety, and emergency procedures.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year experience in secretarial or clerical work.
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
