Routing/Trip Specialist –Transportation
1.0 FTE- (40 hr/wk)
Hourly Pay Range- $21.28 - $29.34
Temporary Position: 1/2/20 - 6/30/20

Working as a member of the Routing Team, evaluate, plan, schedule, and adjust as necessary, school transportation for eligible students requiring regular to/from school transportation and specialized transportation in accordance with BVSD and Transportation Department policy and procedures. Maintain constant, clear, and open communications with Transportation staff, parents, school, and other department personnel to assure timely and accurate delivery of school bus services. This position processes activity trip requests and provides liaison support between the Transportation Department, the Athletic Department and building administration.
-Using computerized routing software, schedule student to/from school transportation, creating individual school services (runs), and combining runs into routes, maximizing the efficiency of transportation department resources and service provision.
-Provide activity trip schedules, cost estimates, assignments, and change management to Transportation Dispatch, Billing Clerk, Schools, BVSD Administrators, and outside customers.
-Working with dispatchers, supervisors, routing team members, evaluate changes and modify runs and routes as necessary to accommodate frequent changes in student needs per requests submitted by schools and BVSD departments.
-Communicate transportation schedule changes to dispatch, drivers, supervisors, schools, parents, and BVSD internal departments.
-Maintain master record files documenting transportation change requests, run/route changes, special transportation change requests, special needs student transportation records, etc.
-Using Transportation Department customized databases, perform data entry keeping special needs transportation information up to date.
-Assemble/provide appropriate data, from databases, workbooks, and files. Collate and analyze data, produce reports for Transportation and other BVSD departments, on transportation costs, ridership, etc.
-Receive, review, and assign activity trip (field trip) requests in compliance with and according to BVSD Policy. Provide activity trip schedules, cost estimates, assignments, and change management to Transportation Dispatch, Billing Clerk, Schools, BVSD Administrators, and outside customers.
-Communicate between the Transportation Department and school users (academic and athletic) to support the provision of activity trip services.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-High School diploma or equivalent.
-Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
-Completed and submitted BVSD online application
-Must possess, or obtain within 60 days, a valid Colorado Commercial Driver license with proper endorsements to drive a School Bus (P2S Certification)
-Computer skills with proficiency in Windows operating system
-Knowledge of the Denver Metro area schools, educational attractions, athletic facilities as they relate to BVSD curricular and athletic activities
-Experience in computerized routing, logistics, or school transportation administration highly desirable
-Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
