Summary:
The Community Schools Lifelong Learning Program Monitor supports the operations of BVSD’s Lifelong Learning and enrichment programs during scheduled courses and will work during after-school hours and weekends. This role ensures program safety, accessibility, and coordination by monitoring attendance, managing facility use, monitoring building security, and serving as the main on-site contact for families, staff, and contractors. The Monitor collaborates with custodians, instructors, and Community Schools staff to provide excellent customer service and foster an inclusive environment for all students. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, administering first aid, and attending required trainings. Occasional support for other community programs and events may be needed.
Responsibilities:
- Support students and instructors with daily attendance. Work with the building custodian on any issues. Coordinate the use of space with any other BVSD groups that may be in the building. Provide exceptional customer service to Lifelong Learning Enrichment contractors, students, and parents.
- Maintain the safety and security of the school campus/building and district equipment. Monitor the activities in the event of an emergency, immediately notify appropriate first responders, then district security personnel and the Community Schools personnel and provide appropriate support. The Monitor will lock and unlock exterior and interior spaces for use and have access to BVSD buildings, stadiums, and grounds.
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents, students, school staff and central office CS staff while program is in session.Respond to phone calls, emails and written correspondence. Provide relevant resources and/or registration materials for staff, families and students. Establish and maintain regular and open communication.
- Collaborate with the Learning and Development Specialist and support vendor/instructors to ensure students with special programming needs receive appropriate support. Promote a welcoming and supportive environment for culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Attend required trainings, including but not limited to, safety and security, Community Schools, and first aid. Provide reports as required for accidents, head injuries, etc. Administer first aid consistent with district training and emergency care guidelines.
- Will provide coverage for other Community Schools programming (e.g. Community Use Events) as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess CPR, First Aid certifications or be willing to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Complete and submitted BVSD online application
- Communicate (read, write and speak) in English
Preferred:
- Experience working in a school setting with students.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
