Summary:
The IT Network Solutions Architect is responsible for developing the overall plan, design, and strategy for implementing new industry technical standards, policies, and best practices related to replacing our network equipment. The Architect would work closely with the Director of the IT Infrastructure and Operations team to understand the current and future business requirements of the District and design solutions that align with the organization's goals. This role will define a unified network vision through partnering with IT staff members and District leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and develop network solutions that meet technical standards, the goals, and initiatives for the organization by partnering with IT staff members, stakeholders, and district leadership. Recommend and implement appropriate networking hardware (routers, switches) and software (network management tools).
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, security breaches, and performance bottlenecks. Perform regular network maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups.
- Design secure network frameworks, incorporating firewall policies, segmentation, VPNs, and zero-trust principles. Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents.
- Document and maintain all network topography design diagrams and configurations.
- Analyze, optimize, and recommend network related improvements for future growth planning and to eliminate bottlenecks. Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and capacity planning.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for network architecture across the organization. Collaborate with IT teams, district stakeholders, and vendors to gather requirements to assist you with designing and implementing a viable solution.
- Partner with 3rd party vendors to assist with maintaining the District’s privately owned fiber that spans across the entire district.
- Lead the network design portion of large infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and new deployments. Create and maintain high-quality design documentation, network diagrams, and deployment guides.
- Architect cloud network integrations (AWS, Azure, GCP) and design connectivity solutions that are best practice, secure, and meet the goals of our organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
- Minimum of three years of experience in enterprise network engineering or architecture.
Preferred:
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, STP, DNS, DHCP, IPsec, SSL, etc.).
- Strong experience with SDN/SD-WAN technologies.
- Proficiency with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
- Proven experience designing and deploying complex networks in multi-site environments.
Salary Information:
Salary Range 9: $98,284.00 - $147,425.00Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
