Summary:
The Human Resources Support Assistant provides essential, comprehensive clerical and administrative support across the Human Resources Department. The role supports applicants and employees with application inquiries, onboarding activities, and general Human Resources inquiries, and ensures employees with leave-related questions are directed to the appropriate Human Resources staff for guidance. The role maintains accurate records in HR systems, assists with special projects and department events, and supports daily operations through data entry, documentation, and customer service, while maintaining confidentiality and adherence to established procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Support administrators, employees, and candidates, providing application and password-reset assistance, responding to job application inquiries, and providing coverage for HR Assistant duties as needed.
- Process new-hire paperwork, collaborate with the Extra Duty Technician, and update candidate and employee records in the Enterprise Resource Planning system and substitute database.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources staff by preparing, organizing, and maintaining employee records and documentation; entering and updating data in HR systems; scheduling meetings or appointments; and filing, scanning, and managing correspondence in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality requirements.
- Provide clerical support to HR Directors, including assisting with special projects, compiling reports, and supporting the displacement and non-renewal process.
- Process and respond to I-9 compliance inquiries; track pre-employment background screening results through the CBI database.
- Assist with consistent and timely communication related to HR processes, including but not limited to employee leave of absence inquiries, responding to general questions, and ensuring employees are directed to the appropriate Human Resources staff for guidance or clarification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three to five years experience in general office occupations or equivalent education and computer experience.
- Notary Public Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
Preferred:
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Strong working knowledge of employee database systems.
- Professional experience working in a PK-12 environment.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
