Summary:

The Early Career Educator Mentor supports teachers/SSPs in their first and second years of the profession by providing guidance in classroom management, instructional strategies, and lesson planning. Mentors draw on their experience to help new educators build confidence, develop effective teaching practices, and navigate classroom challenges. The mentors bring valuable expertise from years of teaching. By sharing their knowledge and offering ongoing support, they help strengthen the next generation of teachers and promote student success.

Responsibilities: 

  • Coach new educators by providing observation, feedback, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with the district leaders to develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive onboarding and mentoring program for early career educators.
  • Collaborate with the district leaders to develop, plan, and implement a training and support program for building based mentors.
  • Collaborate with the district leaders to develop, plan, and implement New Educator Orientation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with school and district leaders in order to support the professional growth of mentees.
  • Monitor and maintain attendance, completion, and other collected information required for accurate progress and completion documentation of educator/SSP Induction.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position. 

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Must have a current Colorado Educator or Special Service Provider License
  • Minimum of eight years as a BVSD teacher or Special Service Provider, within the past 2 years preferred
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with racially, culturally and linguistically different groups.
  • Experience in PK-12 teaching and educator mentoring.
  • Proficient knowledge of and experience with Google Apps (Mail, Calendar, Drive).
  • Displays organizational skills including time and resource management and record keeping.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledgeable at building interpersonal relations.
  • Commitment to grow as a culturally responsive educator.
  • Experience with designing and facilitating professional development in individual, small group, and large group settings.
  • Collaborative and experienced in effective teamwork.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Take initiative to develop and modify work procedures.
  • Make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality. 

Salary Information: 

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
