Summary:
The District Library Coordinator manages and supports programs and services that provide access to physical and digital content through the combined knowledge of classification and cataloging, library automation systems, and digital communications. The District Library Coordinator maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in K-12 library collection development including digital resources, metadata and cataloging, web-based discovery tools, and maker education. This position reports to the Director of Academic Services and consults with the Language Arts and Humanities team (LAH) and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math team (STEM) related to library services functions and support.
Responsibilities:
- Cataloging and Integrated Library System (ILS): Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot integrated library system (ILS) and its associated data records (i.e., MARC records); Establish, document, and communicate thorough and effective resource cataloging requirements and standards, and resulting policies and procedures for K-12 library staff and jobbers/vendors; Manage and monitor the cataloging performed by jobber/vendors; Identify and resolve discrepancies, catalog or re-catalog items as necessary; Conduct and prepare statistical analyses of library services programs and initiatives. Audit and assess school specific library collections and usage patterns.
- Library Services: Provide professional development activities for teacher librarians; Develop and deliver training on digital library technologies including the ILS, ebook and audiobook platforms, and maintain on-demand library services training website and monthly newsletter; Support teacher librarians with site visits, remote meetings, phone calls, chats; Process shipments for CLiC courier services and cataloged materials.
- Digital Content: Provide leadership in the acquisition, evaluation, management, and promotion of digital content; Design and maintain websites and other online resources and communication platforms; Conduct and prepare statistical analyses of digital library services programs and initiatives.
- Coordinator: Advocate for equitable access to resources and resolving library budget disparities; Implement strategic vision for school libraries, aligning with new strategic plan; Provide advocacy and leadership at district level; Liaison between district and local, state agencies, and national organization (CDE State Library-Highly Effective School Library Program (HESLP), Future Ready Librarians, AASL); Develop relationships with community libraries as well as fellow district libraries to provide for collaborative opportunities; Manage vendor & partner relationships as they pertain to school libraries (Book vendors (Follett & Mackin), OverDrive, Other digital content providers (databases, streaming content, ebook & audiobook platforms)); Participate in TL interviews as requested ( TL Job Description); Provide coaching & mentoring to both TLs and Principals; Work with TLs to develop media literacy scope & sequence to comply with CO House Bill19-1110.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's degree in School Library Program
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: School Librarian (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
- Must have over 3 years of experience in library cataloging and library systems administration.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of cataloging principles and procedures, including AACR2, RDA, MARC, Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress authorities, and Book Industry Standards and Communications (BISAC).
- Knowledge of current trends in cataloging.
- Competency in integrated library system (ILS) software.
- Computer experience in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Experience with web content software and/or HTML.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks to support departmental goals and initiatives.
- Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates excellent collaborative skills.
- Works cordially and productively with fellow team members.
- Ability to develop projects, including training, quality control, and follow-up.
- Actively seeks out professional development opportunities, professional workshops, and training.
Salary Information:
Salary Range 2: $66,888.00 - $100,334.00
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
