Summary:

The Claims Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for employees navigating workers’ compensation and property liability claims and coordinates claim activities from initiation through resolution. This position partners with employees, supervisors, healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to facilitate timely claim processing, return-to-work efforts, and ongoing communication regarding claim status. The coordinator supports workplace safety initiatives, assists with safety training and risk mitigation efforts, administers insurance-related services including certificates of insurance, and contributes to the organization's overall risk management and loss prevention programs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Primary point of contact for staff involved in a workers' compensation claim. Works with Claims Adjuster, Staff, Supervisor and appropriate Health Care professionals to facilitate adherence with prescribed treatment.
  • Primary point of contact for district staff and carrier to facilitate the processing of property claims. Ensure timely submission of required information and facilitate meetings between adjusters and staff. Maintain tracking to determine claims status, from initiation to close out.
  • Work with ADA and Leave Coordinators to facilitate return to work options for district staff involved in a workers' compensation claim
  • Participate and facilitate district safety training for staff when requested.
  • Facilitate workers' compensation or property claims.
  • Participate in monthly review of third party administrator claims adjusters workers' compensation progress.
  • Assist in identifying possible hazard areas in BVSD facilities and grounds.
  • Participate in the Joint School District Pool risk managers meetings and Board meetings.
  • Participate in the CO Prima and CEAA meetings or other professional associations/organizations for risk management and workers' compensation.
  • Participate in budgeting for the risk management fund.
  • Assist claims adjusters with the investigation process when necessary.
  • Facilitate the issuance of certificate of insurance when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years or more experience in an insurance claim environment, including Worker's Compensation, Property, Liability, and Auto
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.

Preferred:

  • Experience in governmental worker's compensation, insurance, or related experience.

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
