    Communications Manager:
    BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT is looking for an innovative, effective and experienced communicator who can help bring our newsroom-like operation and digital communications to the next level.

    Summary:
    Leads the editorial efforts and digital communications of the Boulder Valley School District. Primarily responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of communication content across BVSD’s many communication avenues.

    Responsibilities:
    -Oversees the Communications division’s editorial processes to ensure that all communications externally and internally are managed effectively, with a focus on on-time completion and accuracy
    -Facilitates daily operations within the Communications division including meetings and trainings. This will include meetings for Communications, Comm Professionals and Editorial – as well as trainings on best practices and usage of digital communication tools (website, SchoolMessenger, social media, etc) for department and school staff
    -Manage crisis communication, including the daily response to emergent situations and the long-term development of systems and messaging that ensure efficient and accurate response
    -Research, write, edit, capture multi-media material and produce promotional materials such as news stories, press releases, brochures, special one-time publications and others as required
    -Create, gather and edit content for monthly district-level external and internal newsletters (including SPOT, Inside BVSD and Thrive)
    -Manage district presence on social media including Facebook and Twitter
    -Manage digital content on all district-level avenues, specifically including website, app.
    -Lead communications efforts, including Public Information Officer duties, when Chief Communications Officer is out of the office
    -Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    -Bachelor’s Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements: Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or Media Studies or English Literature
    -Minimum of five years' experience in news (writing, editing, publication and working in a newsroom), public relations, publication design, photography, videography and project management
    -Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application
    -Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass English component of interview process
    -Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Creative Suite; required at entry
    -Sharepoint CMS; must acquire within 4 weeks
    -Schoolmessenger; must acquire within 4 weeks
    -Google Apps; must acquire within 4 weeks
    -Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including work experience in news writing, editing, design and proofreading
    -Outstanding ability to understand and communicate regarding the mission and programs of the school district
    -Knowledgeable in the use of graphic elements for effective visual communication
    -Evidence of exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills
    -Demonstrated ability to employ good judgment and decision making abilities, especially in a crisis situation
    -Evidence of ability to manage people, projects, and work as a team player
    -Holds a valid Colorado's driver's license

    Preferred:
    -Ability to professionally shoot, edit and produce video, photography and other multimedia material
    -Ability to manage web content, including writing or manipulation of HTML code
    -Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish
