Summary:
Support and guide a student team as they participate in Destination Imagination. The Team Leader facilitates team meetings, encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, and helps students navigate the challenge process while allowing them to take ownership of their ideas and solutions. No prior DI experience is required—just enthusiasm for working with students and fostering teamwork and creative thinking.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a student Destination Imagination team throughout the challenge season.
- Facilitate regular team meetings and encourage students to develop their own ideas and solutions.
- Guide students through creative problem-solving, teamwork, research, and project development.
- Help the team stay organized, meet deadlines, and prepare for the Destination Imagination tournament.
- Encourage collaboration, creativity, confidence, and student ownership.
- Communicate with families and school staff regarding team meetings, schedules, and tournament details. Follow Destination Imagination guidelines while allowing students to take the lead.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be 21 years of age, or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Complete and submitted BVSD online application
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
Preferred:
- Must be available after school and evenings.
- Knowledge of all aspects of elementary school activity programming.
- Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with elementary school students
- Experience with Destination Imagination, coaching, teaching, mentoring, or working with youth is a plus, but not required.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
