Summary:

The purpose of the Teacher Academy Mentor Sponsor is to provide support to the Teacher Academy students as they are completing observations and coursework for their EDHD 1930 Field Experience Placement. A mentor will host a Teacher Academy Student in their classroom for 5 hours a week over a 15 week period for a total of 75 hours during regular contract time. Additional duties outside of contract hours are outlined below.

Responsibilities: 

  • Completing regular feedback and observation forms for the Teacher Academy Student. (Outside contract hours)
  • Discuss and reflect on Teacher Academy Students lesson implementation.
  • Complete a Mid Semester Evaluation for the Teacher Academy Student using the Field Experience Evaluation Tool (Outside Contract Hours)
  • Complete a Final Evaluation for the Teacher Academy Student using the Field Experience Evaluation Tool (Outside contract hours) and meet with TA instructor and TA student to discuss
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Teacher Academy instructor

Qualifications: 


Required:

  • Must be a current BVSD ECE/Elementary/Middle School Teacher
  • Complete and submitted BVSD online application
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English

Preferred:
  • Value the importance of the Teacher Academy Program and support the growth of future educators.
  • Value how the Teacher Academy program fits into the strategic plan initiatives and understand its impact on student growth
  • Ability to communicate with the Teacher Academy Instructor

Salary Information: 

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
