Summary:
The Bilingual Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education(CLDE) Itinerant Teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of language acquisition and strategies to support and scaffold grade level curriculum and content while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment. They model and use high leverage strategies to support language development and build capacity in others to do the same. Under the direction and assignment of the Director of CLDE, this position serves designated schools across the district on both short-term and long-term assignments, providing instructional coverage, capacity-building support, and program expertise where needed.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate learning experiences and teach the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilize innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; and plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model, materials and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines. The CLDE teacher plans and supports others in using Culturally and Linguistically responsive practices in instructional planning and preparation.
- Utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades. CLDE teachers assist with assessments and the collection of bodies of evidence to identify, progress monitor, and ultimately redesignate Emerging Bilingual students who are ready to exit programming. They also lead the review of data to ensure that students have access to grade level content. They assist teachers, administrators, and families in understanding how data reflects students' language development and on-going progress.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that reflects students’ cultures and identities while reinforcing clear behavioral expectations. Implement routines that maximize learning time, address behavior using restorative practices, and engage families as partners in their child’s education. Model culturally and linguistically responsive strategies—such as comprehensible input, visual supports, and structured academic talk—to increase participation and build staff capacity to value and leverage the assets multilingual learners bring to the classroom.
- Create and support others in developing a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices. Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
- Build strong, trusting partnerships with families by maintaining proactive, two-way communication about student progress and collaborating with significant adults in students’ lives. Reduce language and cultural barriers to engagement and help school staff recognize and leverage the strengths and contributions that multilingual families bring to the school community.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset through ongoing professional learning, reflective goal setting, and continuous improvement of instructional practices. Use expertise in CLDE to mentor colleagues and contribute to staff development focused on effectively serving multilingual learners.
- Engage in reflective, student-centered collaboration with colleagues to ensure meaningful inclusion and extension opportunities for multilingual learners. Partner with school administrators, teachers, and CLDE staff to promote shared expectations, elevate diverse voices, and strengthen instructional practices that support student growth.
- Uphold ethical, professional conduct in all relationships, decisions, and collaborative work while maintaining an unwavering commitment to each student’s academic success and well-being.
- Supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.; and enforce safety and security standards set by the District.
- Follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with the appropriate endorsement in CLDE or CLDE Bilingual (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
- Bilingual and Biliterate skills in Spanish/English(must successfully complete and pass bilingual assessment).
- The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a “READ Act Designation” by meeting specific requirements. - Knowledge of and deep belief in inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, including those on an IEP and/or learning English.

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
