Meadowlark:

Opened in the Fall of 2017, Boulder Valley School District’s first school in Erie, Colorado, serves students K through 8th grade with a preschool program. The school is a dynamic learning environment organized into five learning communities: PK-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th. Flexible grouping arrangements and project/problem based learning are core instructional strategies in creating challenging, meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for all students. The innovative educational spaces provide purposeful, flexible spaces for collaboration and partnerships for all stakeholders. Personalized learning is the core tenet of our learning community model. Staff teach all subject areas and work in collaboration with students, family and the community to support social, emotional, physical, and academic growth. Summary:

Identification and assessing of gifted and talented students. Communicating and collaborating with classroom teachers and families to develop and update Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) goals.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate and coordinate with teachers in developing and updating Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) goals.
  • Maintain and update Advanced Learning Plans (ALP).
  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and families.
  • Organize and administer gifted and talented identification assessments.
  • Collect a body of evidence to be used in the gifted and talented identification process.
  • Coordinate enrichment activities as appropriate.
  • Promote understanding and respect for gifted education and gifted learners.
  • Serve as an advocate for students as appropriate.
  • Participate in staff meetings or professional development activities to increase understanding of gifted learners and gifted education.
  • Participate in conferences between families, administrators, teachers, counselors and students as appropriate.
  • Participate in district Gifted and Talented Advisor meetings and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years college.
  • Communication (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass the English component of the interview process.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Preferred:

  • Minimum two years college, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children.
  • Background in education/gifted education.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to plan, organize and see a project through to completion.

Salary Information: 

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
