    .75 FTE (30 hrs/week) - Regular Contract
    .60 FTE (SpEd) / .15 FTE (Reading & Assessment)

    Special Education / Reading & Assessment Teacher - As the online school for the district, Boulder Universal hosts a diverse enrollment of students including professional performers, athletes, and musicians as well as students choosing an online environment to support their learning needs. Our cohesive team is the catalyst for the high completion and graduation rate of Boulder Universal students. Boulder Universal is not an alternative school. Students seeking an online format with personalized support will find BU is an excellent choice. Students meet State and District requirements to graduate with a BVSD diploma. Boulder Universal teachers use theSchoology Online Learning Management System. Our Special Ed teacher is responsible for working with students grades K-12, identified with learning disabilities to determine individual challenges and programing needs. The teacher will develop, utilize and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEP). They will write and develop appropriate curriculum accommodations in all academic areas tailored to the needs of each student. They will also write and collaborate on Individual Career Academics Plans (ICAP), measurable goals and program delivery plans. As the Assessment Coordinator, the teacher will coordinate student literacy and numeracy assessments upon enrollment and provide progress monitoring and subsequent assessment. The teacher will coordinate CMAS and similar State assessment events in collaboration with BU staff and serve as SSD coordinator for testing.

    Responsibilities:
    -Positively impact student achievement, using online instructional strategies.
    -Knowledge of the curriculum and content area.
    -Effectively manage the virtual and physical learning environment.
    -Differentiate instruction to meet students' learning needs.
    -Use and learn a variety of digital tools to support students.
    -Provide one to one support for students in the Boulder Universal lab.
    -Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
    -Communicate student progress to families on a frequent basis.
    -Collaborate with mentors, counselors, teachers, admin, and online community.
    -Follow State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures.

    Qualifications
    Required:

    -Currently hold a Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s) (or CDE licensure application in process)
    -Experience teaching online or blended learning skills , or successfully completed the "Teaching in the Digital Age" course.
    -Complete and submit the online application for employment with Boulder Valley School District.

    Preferred:
    -Demonstrated ability to be a highly effective member of a team
    -Excellent oral and written communication skills (including video conferencing)
    -Experience with inclusion in the general education classroom for all students, demonstrated experience supporting students with Special needs, ELD, TAG, student identified at-risk, and others.
    -Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction and personalize learning
    -Highly adept using technology to enhance learning; proficient with multiple technologies, devices (iPads, Chromebooks), apps/software, platforms (Mac or PC) and basic troubleshooting
    -Documented experience using Schoology or other Online Learning Management Systems.
