    Teacher - Early Childhood Special Education Long-Term Substitute
    1.0 Total FTE (8 hours/day) Mid-January 2019 to Mid-April 2019
    $100/day first 10 days; $140/day each day thereafter

    Fireside elementary school is a neighborhood school located in the heart of Louisville. Our preschool program is offered in half-day sessions (AM/PM) with two classrooms available. Children come to us from a diverse array of neighborhoods and learning levels, and we meet each at their unique place in the learning journey. Our program serves children who are eligible for Colorado Preschool Program, Early Childhood Special Education, and tuition.

    -Positively impact student achievement, using appropriate instructional strategies and strong knowledge of the appropriate curriculum and content area
    -Data collection through Teaching Strategies GOLD
    -Writing, and maintaining Individual Education Plans for an inclusion classroom (approximately 14 children)
    -Effectively manage the learning environment for all students, including challenging behaviors
    -Understand, appreciate and make accommodations for student diversity
    -Participate in professional development for continuous learning
    -Work with families in a partnership role
    -Work collaboratively with colleagues and community. Classroom staff consists of EC/ECSE teacher, full-day paraprofessional, and 2nd para in AM session. Teacher is also expected to work closely with related service providers (OT, PT, Psych, and SLP).
    -Follow State legal requirements and District and building policies and procedures

    -Colorado substitute teaching license
    -Meet and maintain the requirements for Early Childhood Teacher Qualifications as required by Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Child Care Licensure, including but not limited to CBI, Health Statement, CPR, 1st Aid, Universal Precautions, and Medications Administration
    -Completed and submitted BVSD online application

    -Colorado Teaching License with appropriate endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education or a TEE License for ECSE (or CDE licensure application in process)
    -Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish/English
    -Experience teaching 3-5 year olds as an Early Childhood Special Educator
    -Expertise and experience working with English Language Learners
    -Ability to work on a transdisciplinary team
    -Strong understanding of accommodations, modifications and strategies to use with preschool children who have special education needs
    -Ability to differentiate instruction in an inclusionary preschool model
    -Ability to use data to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate environment that promotes social, physical and intellectual growth of young children
    -Knowledge, experience and comfort in engaging all families in the educational planning for preschool age children, including home visits, parent conferences, parent volunteer opportunities and development of Individual Learning Plans in collaboration with family, other agencies and colleagues
    -Value parents as partners in education and involve parents appropriately in the learning process in and out of school
    -Technology and software skills and experience-(Infinite Campus, Frontline, and My Teaching Strategies)
    -Experience with the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold online assessment
    -Strong collaborative skills
    -Innovative thinking, problem-solving and teaching practices
    -Flexible in all aspects of the profession
    -Use empathy to understand learners, stakeholders and problems
    -Skilled in using technology to enhance learning
    -Balance and support children's social, emotional, physical and academic development in the learning process
    -Consensus building skills
