    Summary:
    The Boulder Valley School District is seeking an Information Security Specialist who is a self starter, life long learner and has an interest in helping secure BVSD’s data while contributing to improve the district’s security posture. You'll work in a professional environment under the guidance of our Security Engineer and Director of Hardware Services.

    Responsibilities:
    -Work with internal departmental teams and external district groups on implementation of security related aspects for projects and deployments and to deploy solutions for any security related issues that arise.
    -Implement and maintain firewall, web filtering and classroom management software/hardware and configuration. Palo Alto firewalls and GoGuardian classroom management and web filtering software is currently used.
    -Configure and troubleshoot security aspects of network devices.
    -Assist in the design and build of secure network and server infrastructure.
    -Implement and maintain other security specific hardware and software as assigned.
    -Assist in implementation and validation of procedural and system security standards.
    -Conduct continuous vulnerability assessment, review and remediation.
    -Participate in integration of security controls into new systems and applications.
    -Assists with project initiatives for security services and implementations.
    -Perform policy and practice review of 3rd party software providers for approval/rejection in software onboarding flow.
    -Performs log analysis for correlation and identification of security related events.
    -Assist and/or lead in incident investigations as well as troubleshooting and remediation for any service disrupting technical issues.
    -Perform a backup role in information and records requests as needed.
    -Address/Resolve all service requests per SLA requirements.
    -Research product and technical data for ongoing projects.
    -Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    -Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science or related field
    -Minimum of one year experience in an information security role.
    -One security certification (Security + or equivalent) or the ability to acquire within the 1st 12 months.
    -Completed and submitted BVSD online application

    Preferred:
    -Understanding a scripting language like Powershell
    -Understanding of system security, networking hardware, routers, switches and load-balancers.
    -Understanding of network protocols(e.g. TCP/UDP, SSL, HTTP/S, FTP/SFTP/FTPS, SSH, IPSec, LDAP, ADFS, SAML, etc.). and architecture, virtual networking hardware and cloud-based solutions i.e hosted/SaaS solutions.
    -Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals
    -Experience with Microsoft Server & Client environments (secure configurations, hardening); Linux experience is a plus.
    -Proficient in Windows and ChromeOS; OS/X, iOS, and Android is a plus.
    -Experience with deep packet inspection firewalls and other IDP/IPS solutions (i.e. Palo Alto, Checkpoint, etc.)
    -Knowledge of data security controls and best practices
    -Ability to analyze and mitigate security threats/breaches
    -Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Salary Information:
    -Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
