    Responsibilities:
    Under the direction of the Nutrition Services District Manager, the Production Sous Chef is responsible for the oversight of and production and pack-out of meals for school sites in the Regional Production Center. The Sous Chef’s culinary and management skills facilitate the from-scratch preparation of whole, fresh delicious and nourishing foods, while maintaining a harmonious, clean and orderly work environment.

    Qualifications:
    Required:

    -High School diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent
    -Completed and submitted BVSD online application
    -Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass English component of interview process.
    -Must acquire a current Serve Safe certificate within 3 months

    Preferred:
    -Bachelor's degree or equivalent and advanced training pertinent to the position requirements, major area of study: Culinary Arts
    -Over five years experience in: Specialized training in culinary skills, with a minimum of 5 years experience in large scale (1000 portion batches) from-scratch cooking and baking in a commercial or institutional environment, preferably including experience with USDA Child Nutrition standards and compliance.
    -Train and evaluate district staff in all HACCP Standard Operating Procedures
    -Working knowledge of Horizon Food Service software and Back Office; must acquire within 30 days
    -Basic skills: personal computing, keyboarding and word processing; critical thinking and problem solving skills

    Salary Information:
    -Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
