Horizons K-8 School, located in south Boulder, has a rich history of academic excellence. We have one opening in the 2022-23 school year for a paraeducator to work in a Kindergarten classroom. The schedule is 8:15am-3:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:15am-12:45pm on Friday- .84 FTE. This position is benefit eligible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of this position.
Collaborate with classroom teacher to help provide one-on-one and group instruction in academics.
Assist students with self-help, gross motor and social skills.
Assist students in peer and cross-age tutoring.
Helps adapt materials and equipment to meet specific needs and learning styles of students.
Evaluate student progress on work assignments and share with teacher.
Assist the teacher in the physical setup and cleanup of the classroom for group instruction, projects, and activities.
Supervise students during lunch, recess duties and field trips, as necessary.
- High school diploma, completion of GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of Colorado Dept of Human Services criminal background screening and CBI fingerprints.
- Universal Precaution Training (provided by HK8).
- CPR and First Aid Training (provided by HK8).
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Completed and submitted Horizons K-8 online application.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
- Advanced interpersonal relation skills.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Tolerance for moderate noise level.
- Comfort with physical activities such as standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Comfort with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Commensurate with experience and position on the Horizons K-8 Paraeducator Hourly Salary Schedule which can be found via the Horizons K-8 website. Regularly scheduled hourly positions may be impacted by school wide breaks and temporary schedule changes.
