    Nature of Work:
    The Open Enrollment Office is responsible for completing all family applications to enroll in a school of choice, and running the open enrollment lotteries for the district. The Open Enrollment Administrative Assistant supports a wide variety of functions in the Student Enrollment Center. These functions include, but are not limited to, assisting the Director for Student Enrollment with the management details associated with the Open Enrollment process, customer service activities, and completing general office tasks in the department. It includes working with the Superintendent’s Office concerning administrative transfer requests. It also includes assisting the Enrollment Manager with the preparation of the October Pupil Count and the On-line Registration process. The successful candidate will be trained and be on the list of clerical persons who will provide short-term relief for the district receptionist at the Education Center.

    Responsibilities:
    -Perform administrative and complex secretarial work, and assist the department’s professional staff in a variety of functions
    -Maintains positive interaction with the public, schools, and district employees while answering questions about open enrollment and administrative transfer procedures and processes (including related Board policies and procedures)
    -Answer incoming phone calls and respond to public inquires and complaints
    -Review and respond to Open Enrollment Helpdesk email; compose and send correspondence in English and Spanish
    -Verify and process submitted open enrollment applications
    -Participates in the maintenance of the open enrollment department’s databases
    -Helps complete district mailings/emailing/communications about open enrollment
    -Coordinate and assist presenting in Spanish at annual community Open Enrollment meetings
    -Monitor and communicate about administrative transfer requests from families to the Superintendent’s Office, as well as maintain electronic records

    Qualifications
    Required:

    -High School Diploma or equivalent
    -Minimum of three years progressively responsible secretarial experience
    -Bilingual English/Spanish (must pass BVSD assessment)
    -Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass the English component of interview process
    -Completed and submitted BVSD online application

    Preferred:
    -Knowledge of district policies and procedures
    -Knowledge of office practices as well as functioning as an office manager/lead
    -Strong written communication skills, as well as math skills
    -Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function under pressure in a professional manner
    -Ability to make decisions in accordance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures
    -Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions
    -Advanced computer knowledge and experience, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google and Infinite Campus
