    Summary:
    Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and within the framework of district policy, the Heavy Equipment Operator/Welder is responsible for heavy equipment operation and construction, assembly and repair of metal parts, equipment and structures. Includes the following general areas of responsibility.

    Responsibilities:
    -Operates heavy equipment as needed for the care and maintenance of district grounds.
    -Repairs a variety of equipment and site structures through the operation of drill presses, grinders, welding equipment and hand tools.
    -Performs grounds related maintenance tasks as assigned.
    -Assists with the care and maintenance of all Grounds equipment and vehicles.
    -Performs snow removal tasks in the winter.
    -Carries out oral and written directions. Accurately documents work performed on work orders defining problem and solution. Enters time and Work Order numbers accurately on time cards.
    -Communicates and coordinates problem resolution with schools, district staff and outside contractors.
    -Conducts PM’s on facility and site, systems and equipment for maintenance and safety issues; makes repairs as required or provides recommendations to the District for correction.
    -Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    -High School Diploma or equivalent
    -Minimum of two years experience in: Welding and/or metal work
    -Minimum of five years Heavy Equipment Education, experience, or training
    -Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application
    -Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
    -Requires a valid Colorado Driver's license
    -Lifting up to up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis and up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis
    -Constantly reaching, bending, stooping, ability to climb ladders, and be on your feet 8 hours/day
    -Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or emergencies; and to respond to snow removal duties

    Preferred:
    -Advanced courses in business, technical or vocational school up to two years of college.
    -Colorado Commercial License-Class A
    -Heavy Equipment Operator Certification
    -Heavy Equipment Trainer Certiciation
    -Minimum of three years landscape maintenance or construction experience

    Salary Information:
    -Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
