The Production Cook works in the regional production kitchen under the direction of the production sous chef. The primary purpose of this job is to receive, prep, cook and pack out meal components for all the school sites assigned to the Regional Production Kitchen.
-High School diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent plus specialized courses in culinary training, technical, vocational, or relevant on the job training
-Completed and submitted BVSD online application
-Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English, must pass English component of interview process.
-Minimum of five years experience in: Large scale (minimum 1000 portions) from scratch cooking and baking in a commercial or institutional environment
-Must proficiently operate large scale cooking equipment such as tilt skills, combi ovens, blast chiller, slicers and mixers upon hire
-Must pass post offer physical
-Must pass FS Online Training Assessment by completion of probationary period
-Must acquire a current Serve Safe certificate upon hire and every 5 years thereafter
-Must have working knowledge of Horizons Software Production and menu planning module within 6 months of hire
-Perform tasks on computer and peripherals upon hire
-Ability to lift 50 lbs on a frequent basis
-Experience in USDA Child Food standards and compliance
-Understand and follow all HACCP Standard Operating Procedures
