Provide a sanitary, safe, and clean environment for the Boulder Valley School District Culinary Center (BVSDCC) facility.
-Perform building inspections: Check for safety and maintenance issues, report and remove graffiti, report vandalism (interior/exterior), and remove litter from building grounds.
-Fulfill requests from the Food Services management team. Demonstrate effective communication (verbally and written) with the Food Services staff, and community members. Write and respond to emails. Monitor and place orders with sous chef for custodial supplies, and maintain safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals that are being used in the facility.
-Maintain staff restrooms and showers throughout the day (clean and re-stock with hand soap and paper products as needed). Maintain all chemicals, hand soap, and paper towels supplied throughout the building. Clean all kitchen hand sinks daily. Clean office areas of the building.
-Set up and break down the Cafeteria and Cafe area for breakfast (if applicable) and lunch. Setup and breakdown for special events and meetings, including locking/unlocking areas for access and providing customer support.
-Clean all floors, floor drains, and grates of the building daily. Clean floor mats as needed. Utilize mechanical floor cleaning equipment as needed. Clean refrigerated and storage areas daily or as directed.
-Remove trash, compost, and recycling from all building areas, and maintain and clean dumpster area of building.
-Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and carts.
-Monitor the buildings lighting, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems (boiler, uni-vents, etc). Repair/report issues to the Manager. Respond to, and report appropriately, issues such as alarms, water leaks, fires, mechanical/electrical failures and gas leaks. Perform kitchen Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
-Perform minor repairs and facility improvements such as assembling furniture and locker repair; minor equipment repair and painting. Repair of building deficiencies that are beyond ability and time should be reported to the maintenance department.
-Have working knowledge of all of the BVSDCC equipment and assist in cleaning as needed including Sous Vide Equipment, Cook/Chill, 200 Gallon Commercial Kettles, Grinders, Graters, Choppers, Baggers and Vacuum Seal Equipment. Have working knowledge of warewashing equipment and assist in warewashing as needed. Have working knowledge of all chemical cleaning systems.
-Remove snow and ice from areas around the building not accessible by snow plows. Perform seasonal projects such as mowing areas not accessible by a ride-on mower, tree trimming, cleaning outside windows and other assigned seasonal projects.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Completed and submitted BVSD online application
-Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English
-Pass Food Service Online Training Assessment, including Sanitation Course; must acquire by completion of probationary period
-Must obtain ServSafe Certificate; must acquire within probationary period
-Offer contingent upon passing post offer physical
-Custodial and Cleaning Equipment, required upon entry
-Ability to operate hand truck; required at entry
-Ability to operate pallet jack; must acquire within 1 month
-Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs
-Must pass a practical test and also a written test
-Minimum of one year custodial experience, food production or kitchen setting
-Moderate computer skills/ability to use email effectively
-Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
